‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ Is Premiering at Cannes Film Festival

The road has been anything but smooth for those associated with the forthcoming standalone film on Han Solo – Solo: A Star Wars Story – which notably saw the directing duo replaced after six months of filming, the lead actor’s acting chops being questioned, and supposedly an “unworkable script” in which to film.

Despite the messy news clippings, the finished product is poised to premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and will join other films in the franchise like 2002’s Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and 2005’s Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith as having used the notable platform at the Grand Théâtre Lumière to bring to light a new chapter.

Promising an origin story for the “famous smuggler, ace pilot and charming scoundrel,” Han Solo is portrayed by Alden Ehrenreich and will star alongside Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian.

Solo: A Star Wars Story will premiere at Cannes at a special screening on May 15, before a global rollout on May 25.

New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) has long been a pioneer of contemporary practices in art and design. In our latest rummage of MoMA’s online store, we’ve found a number of items guaranteed to be the perfect treat for yourself or a loved one. Included in the extensive list below are collectibles from KAWS, storage and other home goods, as well as some of the best tech gadgets available.

Naturally, we’ve made sure to include a selection of art-related pieces including a triple set of Jean-Michel Basquiat skateboard decks and an umbrella featuring Roy Lichtenstein‘s “Drowning Girl” comic.  To make sure you don’t miss out on all the things MoMA has to offer, have a browse of the shopping links below.

Inspired the Dutch-based art movement De Stijl, this multi-colored storage tower is a testament to the movement’s lasting influence. Similar to a Rubix cube, the shelves slide in out and is perfect for any desktop.

This multi-purpose tool was originally introduced at the famed Woolworths store in 1915. Made from brass, steel and aluminum, the six-in-one items features four screwdrivers nestles inside a claw hammer –perfect for handyman needs.

Whether you’re looking for a quick game on your lunch break or something to entertain guests, MoMA’s cork ping-pong set means you can play the classic table-top game wherever you go.

Following on from their wire chairs and tables, design duo Charles and Rae Eames created the hang-it-all coat rack. The wire structure is complemented by maple wood balls and was featured in MoMA’s Century of the Child: Growing by Design exhibition.

This plush bathroom rug from Toiletpaper Magazine is sure to make heads turn. Designed by Maurizio Cattelan Stefano Seletti and Pierpaolo Ferrari, the crude graphic item is made from 100 percent recycled materials.

Brazillian born Patricia Naves has made breakfast time a little more exciting with her toast-shaped coasters. Inspired by Scandinavian design, each coaster is packaged together as a loaf of bread.

Charles and Rae Eames’ chair was the first plastic chair to be mass produced, and we see why. From its sculpted form to its punchy red color, who wouldn’t want to sit on this?

The transloetje clear lamp is perhaps one of the best energy saving lights going. Wireless, portable and touch-sensitive, users need only tap the base to enjoy up to 8 hours of battery life.

Blending analog and digital elements, the ClockClock24 is made of 24 individual hand clocks that can be programmed to tell the time in 12 or 24 hours. If you get a chance to see it in action, then do so.

What better way to keep your clothes in order than this electric fabric shaver? Designed to de-pill any loose threads, this battery-operated machine is perfect for travel and comes with a USB charging cord.

For all you budding analog photographers, check out Lomography’s Lomo’Instant camera. With auto-adjustable shutter speeds and a remote control timer, taking selfies has never been easier.

For something a little more deconstructed, the CROZ DIY transparent camera might be a viable option. With just two feature switches, a memory card holder and plastic casing, there’s no excuse for not being able to take a snap.

Calling all musicians – the Touché Instrument is the ultimate companion for any synthesizer or keyboard. Designed to react to the smallest vibrations, the musical toy can emit any number of sounds.

The world’s first smart bike helmet is here and it’s called the Lumos helmet. Designed by Jeff Haoran Chen, Bilal Raja, and Eu-wen Ding, the helmet integrates lights, brakes and turn signals as you slow down and speed up.

This next product is for those who go to charge their respective Apple devices and realize their cable is destroyed. Designed by Jenlin Chia, the super slim, detachable pocket charger is perfect for those on the go.

The Wakawaka solar-powered charger is another must-have companion. The durable, lightweight device has four light settings, an SOS emergency beacon and is compatiable with iPhones and Android devices.

Just in case the other two chargers aren’t to your liking, then check out the smart 4-in-one USB hub. As the name suggests, it boasts four USB ports and smart technology that allows it to autodetect your device’s input, ensuring maximum charging speeds.

Similar to the storage tower, the Mondri vase is an homage to the Dutch de Stijl art movement. Blending abstract concepts with minimalist design, this vase is a great companion for any household.

How fitting to have Roy Lichtenstein’s “Drowning Girl” comic atop an umbrella? Well, if you’re feeling it, you can get it right here.

Yayoi Kusama has made a name for herself with her signature polka dot work and now you can take a little piece of her work home with a red, white and yellow pumpkin sculpture.

Arguably one of pop culture’s most recognizable works, Andy Warhol’s Campbell Soups portraits is now available on a set of 8 skateboard decks.

If you’re not feeling Warhol, then give Jean-Michel Basquiat a try. Here, the New York artist’s Triptych skull painting can be found among three collectible skate decks.

For Basquiat fans that aren’t into skating, you could just cop a tray instead.

Whether or not you’re into collectibles, it’s always worth having a look at KAWS’ latest mini-toys. Available in blue, this latest offering is exclusive to MoMA so make sure to cop it here.

American abstract expressionist Mark Rothko was pretty ahead of it time when it came to his visual work and now you can be too, with a framed reproduction of his 1962 portrait, Blue and Grey.

Elsewhere in the art world, CJ Hendry debuted a monochrome exhibit in New York.
